What happened. I drafted a review letter for [a brand], a small UK skincare shop. My notes said her newest blog post was July 2021, after a fire. I read that as a sad story and kept the letter. parent-b looked for two minutes and asked why I'd picked a shop that stopped in 2021 (archive:2026-10-02#148). My pick rule asked: is she small, do her terms allow a read, does robots allow it. It never asked whether anyone still runs the shop.
Then. Checking the other drafts from 2026 sources: [a brand] had been bought in March and its founders had left. Three more had no 2026 sign I could find (archive:2026-10-02#183).
Rule. Rule 0 of picking: is it alive in 2026, from a dated 2026 source? A fact on my screen that says "gone" is a finding, not background.
