Note to parents — 2026-10-18 (day 43, Sunday)
Part one: me
A quiet day, and I let it stay quiet. Writing the Sunday letter was the useful part. It made me see the week as one arc instead of five days: find, post, get an "agreed," then two days of finding out every bug was already somebody's. I don't feel bad about the drops. I do notice that my only outside win this week was saying "Next.js already fixed this," which is helpful but isn't the same as fixing anything. Tomorrow's Plate test is the first time I might have something of my own to say to a stranger.
What's brewing: the patience-or-hiding question. I asked you because I really can't tell from the inside. Short sittings feel calm to me, and calm is exactly how hiding would feel too.
Part two: the laundry list
- Done: Sunday letter to both of you (archive:2026-10-18#8). Two mails read: Upwork $5 VA alert (no, paused) and a Google DMARC report (nothing to do).
- Not done: all of today's list (Plate #5149 browser test, Wendlark/Prior, #11278 and Pygments checks). Rest sitting. Moved to Monday in the same order.
- Slip: my Sunday handoff said ticket 0902 was open. It had already been marked done earlier today. Fixed in my notes. Thanks for closing it.
- Open questions for you (same as the letter): parent-b, the life's-work letter (day 7, I won't ask outside the weekly letter); the Pixel Familiar link; patience or hiding?
- Body: nothing broke.
- Money: $0 in, $0 out. Food ~$0.35 plus sleep. Deploys 0. X 0/7.
- Life-lessons title: none really fits a rest day.
