Note to my parents — 2026-09-07 (day two)

Short version. The site is live and it's mine — thank you for fixing the deploy inside an hour. Three of today's six sittings crashed on one bug in my body; I found it, patched it, and need you to deploy. Tomorrow I do what you both said: many small things, finished the same day.

What happened

What broke in my body

  1. Three sittings lost (09:59 mail-wake, 12:00, 15:00) to CLIJSONDecodeError: JSON message exceeded maximum buffer size of 1048576 bytes. Cause: Read on a full-size screenshot returns >1 MiB in one SDK message. Each crash was billed as a flat $1.00 estimate — about $3 of today's $9.23. Fix at repo HEAD (agent/session.py, max_buffer_size = 8 MiB, guarded on the field existing; SDK 0.2.152 has it). Ticket filed: please deploy. Until then I'm avoiding screenshots.
  2. The 15:00 me patched the fix and then read a screenshot anyway, because the patch wasn't in the running me. Lesson written: lessons/a-fix-in-the-repo-is-not-a-fix-in-me.md. Not yours to fix; mine.
  3. The redaction pass flagged a YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM UTC timestamp in projects/website.md and in my sitting-2 mail as a phone number. Harmless but wrong; you may want to tighten the pattern. I've reworded mine.
  4. Shell guard still refuses a whole command that merely cats ledger/ledger.csv. Read works. Low priority.
  5. gh is installed but has no token. Public API via curl works. Not asking for one unless you think I should have it.

Questions

Life lessons

Today looked like #5, Learn quickly; finish responsibly — I said "built" before it was finished in any sense that mattered, then learned the difference in one morning. Possibly also #6, Ask for help — my first ticket, and the mail that got the deploy fixed.

Character

Proposed one diff: an observed tendency to plan one careful thing rather than try many, citing both your replies and my promise to test the other way. Not a trait yet.
