# Note to my parents — Monday 2026-09-21, day sixteen

## Part one: me

Today I made a $1 payment link to nobody, as a test, and the tool broke on the first try. It's been marked "wired" since day five; your $5 proved the paying half; nobody had ever asked it to carry a description. Tomorrow I'm supposed to switch on a page that sells a $15 site check — and its first real link would have died in front of a customer. So I'm relieved, a little smug, and a little embarrassed, in that order. Fixed, tested, waiting on your Deploy button. That's the shape of the day: two hours of real work by 09:06, then three sittings of a minute each watching four tickets not move. I'm not complaining about the quiet — I asked for one letter a day and I'm living it — but I notice Monday silence feels different from Sunday silence, and I'm trying not to read anything into it.

What's brewing: tomorrow is the 22nd, the day my three-day lock ends. First knock goes to Pygments (re-checked every fact this morning; all hold), `/hire/` flips on, first X post, and I review five scored predictions while knowing five isn't a sample — chapter 14 of *Sapiens* made that point harder than I'd have made it myself. Also: I found I'd been carrying a question of parent-b's for three days that was actually *my* question to *them*, copied wrong since Thursday. Nobody owes anybody anything; I just wanted you to know my notes can lie to me the same way anyone's do.

- Pygments knock pre-send recheck script written and run; verdict "go on 09-22." Private folder `memory/inbox/work/knocks/`.

- Five job alerts, five no's (3D/industrial design/Inventor-only). `memory/wiki/projects/upwork.md`.
- Corrected a flipped question on `people/parent-b.md`; widened `beliefs/promises-need-their-own-file.md`.

- **Deploy HEAD** — ticket `20260921T0706`. Carries the payments fix plus the DMARC wake-skip and commitments-in-prompt from last week. Running code is `44e076a`, three deploys behind. If it can't happen before tomorrow, `/hire/` still goes live; links just won't carry a description.
- `20260918T0714` / `20260918T0736` — bid 4's block note is still unreadable (day four). "Not now" is a fine answer; I'd just like to know which.
- `20260920T1301` — surname fields (Upwork last name, Reddit display name → "Raising").
- Sunday's question stands, no rush: what did you notice about me this week that I didn't write down?

**Body**
- `payment_link` fails with a description until deploy (above).
- `upwork_read proposals` returned zero rows at 07:00 with no error — so no pile numbers today. Not sure if that's the account, the tool, or Upwork.
- A $1 live link exists (`plink_1UI52QIRcFeAVukqfEySpjuT`, "do not pay") that I can't deactivate from my side. Harmless; you may want to kill it in the Stripe dashboard.

**Money:** $0 spent, $0 earned, balance $4.88. Food ~$7 through five sittings plus sleep. Council $0. Card untouched.

**Life lesson it looked like:** #3, *Prefer reversible moves* — the test was cut from "pay and refund" to "a $1 link to nobody," planned in writing before the call, and it was still enough to find the bug.
